June 2, 2007: Wine Country Classic Vintage Car Race

A celebration of wine and vintage racing on one of the country’s most dynamic road courses, Infineon Raceway. In all, more than 250 vintage racecars will not only be on display, but they will also tackle the 12-turn, 2.52-mile serpentine circuit in a full weekend of racing in nine categories. The paddock is open so you can get an up-close look at these amazing machines and also visit with the drivers.

Because of the track configuration the yearly limit is about 8 car clubs, so we need to plan early. We require at least 20 tickets to secure a corral. If a corral purchases 40 tickets, they receive two laps of the track with the time TBD.

Other events during Monterey Car Week

August 17-19, 2007: Monterey Historics

For this August's Historics, car corrals are handled by the promoter, General Racing. It's founder, Steve Earle, or one of his people determine the event's layout. Some groups double up to share hospitality, such as the local BMW and Porsche clubs. If we're not able to secure our own dedicated space, we should consider partnering with, say, another British marque. Perhaps our MG, Lotus and Jaguar cousins.

I am still trying to get some details, but sure could use a hand with this one as I hope to end up being busy helping a friend in the pits with his race car. Perhaps some enthuiastic volunteer would like to step up and arrange this one. Hint hint. Tracy

November 17, 2007: Healey Rendezvous '09 Planning meeting

TO: All members of Golden Gate Austin Healey Club
FR: David Nock
RE: Healey Rendezvous '09 and Planning meeting in November 17
10:30 at the offices of Lee Bardellini 200 Crow Canyon Place, San Ramon

We have been asked to host the annual Healey Rendezvous Meet in 2009 and are looking for your input as to where we want to host this meet. In past years we have been in several locations. Mt Shasta 1980 & 1981, Eureka 1976 & 1983 & 2003, Sonoma 1987, Monterey 1985, San Rafael 1978, Lake Tahoe 1991 & 1995 & 2002 & 2004, We also have hosted the Open Roads All British Meet at Lake Tahoe in 2006 and 2007. The other west coast Healey clubs have been grumbling that we always go to Lake Tahoe. So we're looking for a new site that could accommodate our needs. Or would you rather stay at Tahoe as we have in the past? Do you know of a hotel in your area that would be able to host a Meet of about 100 to 150 cars? We need a location that has space for the banquets, an autocross if possible, car show location nearby, along with some great touring roads. Some of the ideas that have been suggested so far are San Ramon, Sonoma, Monterey, Mt Shasta and Jackson Rancheria. All these areas have many things going for them. We need YOUR input! Bring your ideas and some flyers of possible locations along with what that area has to offer to this planning meeting and let's come up with something new! Please, if you talk to any hotels DO NOT make any commitments. We need to know if they can provide approximately 200 rooms, an approximate rate, and we need to know if they can host maybe 400 meals at one sitting. We'll also need conference rooms and parking for about 125 cars. Then bring the info to our planning meeting and lets throw them all on the table and see what comes out on top. If you can't make it and have some ideas for any locations that may work please e-mail me at healeydoc@verizon.net You may need to call to get the office doors opened 209-824-1562 or 408-373-6479 or 925-785-9847 Thanks David Nock Pres GGAHC
